This year we are pleased to present a special selection of works by Ai Weiwei, Olafur Eliasson, Andreas Eriksson and Elizabeth Peyton that together evoke imagery of eternal, terrestrial landscapes and the expansive cosmos.
At its center is Ai Weiwei’s Martin (2019), a monumental sculpture from the artist’s essential Roots series of iron works meticulously cast from the long-deceased roots of pequi trees native to Brazil.
In dialogue with Martin is Olafur Eliasson’s Deep cosmological constant collective (2019), a large-scale sculpture composed of nearly 200 striking crystal spheres that shift from yellow to silver to black.
Continuing Eliasson’s engagement with the sensorial power of light, color and space, this work illuminates the human experience as one that is immanently tied to environment and perception. In Andreas Eriksson’s singular painterly approach to form and surface, the viewer is drawn into the timelessness of his pastoral, psychologically imbued landscapes.
